Sakitori Shrine
This is a shrine that enshrines the god of learning, education, and employment. There are many green trees, including cherry trees and Japanese zelkova trees, on the shrine grounds. How about getting a daruma charm that is put on the altar for six days to pray to the god as a souvenir for someone you care about?

Komyo-ji Temple (Kaname Kannon-do)
Komyo-ji Temple is called Kaname Kannon by the local people and is famous as the seventh temple of the Bando 33 Kannon Pilgrimage and popular among those who want to visit those temples and collect goshuin stamps in their stamp books. Repaired in 1498, Kannon-do (main building) is the oldest temple building in Hiratsuka and designated as one of the Kanagawa prefectural designated cultural properties. The temple has other cultural properties designated by the country, prefecture, and city.

Hiratsuka Hachimangu
The gods enshrined here were revered by past Emperors and samurai, such as Minamoto no Yoritomo and Ieyasu Tokugawa, and are still revered as the god of luck in battle and games, the god of childrearing, such as safe delivery and healthy growth, and the god of protection against disasters and calamities, respectively.

Seven Luck Gods pilgrimage
All the temples and shrines that enshrine those gods are located around Hiratsuka Station, so you can visit all of them in approx. three to four hours on foot with a total walking distance of around 8 km. Why don’t you visit the spiritual spots in Hiratsuka while enjoying the streets where warm-hearted people live? You can get the original goshuin stamp card and collect seven goshuin stamps of those temples and shrines as a token of your pilgrimage.

A tourist destination, just one hour from Tokyo
Hiratsuka City is conveniently located because it is approx. 60 km southwest of Tokyo and roughly a one-hour train ride or drive from there! As it is also roughly a 30-minute train ride or drive to the neighboring tourist destinations of Kamakura and Hakone, you can casually visit Kamakura and Hakone when you have time during your stay in Hiratsuka.
