Shonan-daira
Shonan-daira is a hill about 180 m above sea level. It has two large observation decks: the Television Tower Observation Deck and the Komayama Park Rest House Observation Deck. Both observation decks offer panoramic, 360-degree views of the city and its surrounding areas, and you can enjoy great views of Mt. Fuji, Sagami Bay, and the neighboring mountains. As a scenic spot selected as one of the 100 Night Views of Japan, Shonan-daira offers panoramic, 360-degree night views after sunset and is one of the most popular spots in Hiratsuka.
The area is said to be the birthplace of “love locks,” the practice of locking love padlocks as a symbol of eternal love in Japan . There is a love-locking monument called Ainowa to which couples can lock padlocks and photo spots featuring the artworks of Luise Ono, a painter born in Hiratsuka.
This place is also famous for beautiful cherry blossoms in spring, and many people visit Shonan-daira during the cherry blossom season. There is also a restaurant that promotes local production for local consumption and offers dishes made with fine ingredients produced in Hiratsuka.

Kana Garden
You can enjoy seasonal flowers in Kana Garden. It is especially famous for the rose garden where you can enjoy beautiful roses in spring and autumn. The rose garden is one of the gardens with the largest number of rose varieties in the Kanto region and has approx. 1,300 varieties from wild roses to recent varieties. Bara no Wadachi is designed as the garden of history where visitors can enjoy roses by strain and class in chronological order of the history of rose breeding. Because there are also over 50 varieties of cherry trees, you can enjoy cherry blossoms in spring. In the garden with a commanding view of Mt. Fuji, you can enjoy the agricultural experiences of harvesting seasonal vegetables, rice planting, potato digging, and rice harvesting. People with disabilities can enjoy the garden because it is designed as a barrier-free garden. Hiratsuka Coast
The coast is four kilometers long surrounded by a beautiful natural environment. You can enjoy the beach sport of volleyball and basketball throughout the year at Hiratsuka Beach Park located in the central part of the coast. You can also enjoy swimming in the ocean in summer.
With the television tower Shonan-daira, one of the landmarks of Hiratsuka, in the background, the area offers a commanding view of Mt. Fuji and is a photo spot where you can take a photo of the sea and Mt. Fuji together. In addition, the dunes and lapping waves in the late afternoon show various beautiful colors throughout the year.
